Hindemith Prize of the City of Hanau for the conductor Christoph Eschenbach

The 2016 Hindemith Prize of the City of Hanau is awarded to Christoph Eschenbach. The internationally successful conductor and pianist has received the renowned prize for his long-standing commitment as an outstanding interpreter of the orchestral works of Hindemith. In 2013, special attention was paid to his CD production of Hindemith‘s Symphonic Metamorphosis (1943), Konzertmusik, Op. 50 (1930) and the Violin Concerto (1939) with the violinist Midori and the NDR Symphony Orchestra. This recording was awarded a Grammy in 2014 in the category of „Best Classical Compendium“. In 2015 Christoph Eschenbach recorded another Hindemith CD with the NDR Symphony Orchestra with the Symphony „Mathis der Maler“ (1934) and the Symphony in E-flat (1940).The awards ceremony took place on 12 November 2016 in Hanau.

The conductor and pianist Christoph Eschenbach has been honored with the Brahms Prize 2016th

On May 12, he has been honored in Wesselburen with the Brahms Prize 2016 Brahms Society Schleswig-Holstein. "He is a prize winner of world renown" says its chairman Joachim Nerger. Reflecting musician par excellence, he can do it like few others, charge the music with emotion and to give the masterpieces a deeply human face".
